INTRODUCTION:

MULTIPLE DISK COPY is a utility that will allow you to make batches of diskettes with a maximum amount of speed, a minimum amount of user intervention, and a maximum amount of reliability. If you have 4 drives, you may produce up to 3 copies at a time, 2 drives minimum are required. You may copy any amount of tracks, at any step speed. The program will automatically put sector skewing on the destination diskettes for maximum load times. You may also optionally specify a byte for byte compare after write. Most operating systems will only perform a read verify, that is if is readable, it is OK. This program will actually compare each byte on your diskettes for high reliability. You may specify that you want a run of 50 disks, for example, and the program will keep a count of good diskettes for you. At the end of each copy, a list of the good and bad copies will be shown.

The program also offers a limited amount of protection to your copies. You may rename any sector on track 0 to be any other number. This will prevent the TRSDOS backup command, and the NEWDOS full disk copy command from completing. You may also add a message or serial number (with automatic incrementing) to the protected sector. All of these features make multi-copy the program for most disk duplicating needs for dealers. High reliability is the name of the game.

DOCUMENTATION:

Enclosed you will find your multiple disk copy program. It is on a self loading diskette, boot it in drive 0. Once the program is loaded, you may remove the disk from the drive, it is no longer needed. You will then be led through a series of questions about the copy proceedure. Each of the entries will also list the default value if you press ENTER only.

The first question is the step speed that your drives are capable of. Use the time that your slowest drive is cabable of. Use 3 if you are not sure what speed your drive will go. Then you are asked for the number of copies you wish to make. If you have to make a batch, the program will keep track of sucessful copies for you. Now you may enter the track count of your source disk. All tracks will be copied. You may then specify if you would like the destination disks verified. If yes, then a byte by byte compare will be performed on the data. This will produce very reliable copies for your customers.

Now you must specify the source drive. It may be any from 0-3. Then you are asked for the destination drives. You may specify any number of drives to be included. The source and destination cannot be the same. A minimum of 2 drives are required. When finished with the drive questions, you will be prompted to mount all disks and press ENTER. At this time the copy will proceed. If any errors occur during the copy proceedure, error messages will be displayed. When all tracks have been copied messages pertaining to the condition of each copy are displayed. Only the sucessful copies will be counted. All the parameters that you specified in the initialization part of the program are displayed at the top of the screen for easy viewing.

This program came about by the need for dealers to make mass quantities of disk copies to distribute to their customers. The highest quality is strived for with this program. Another factor is the ease of operator use with minimum training, and the minimal user intervention required during the copy process. All these factors make MULTI-COPY the right program for most duplicating needs. MULTI-COPY will also automatically put sector skewing on your destination diskettes for maximum read times.

Anyone with comments or suggestions, please send them to the above address. If you would like any changes made to the program, please contact me directly for custom work. I feel that you will like the ease of use of the program, and will be satisfied in knowing that your duplicating is being done reliably.
